Anti-snoring treatments.

Snoring is the noise a narrowed airway makes — soft tissue vibrating as air squeezes past. It exiles partners to spare rooms, wrecks two people’s sleep at once, and (the bit nobody mentions) leaves the snorer themselves less rested than they realise. A custom-made mandibular advancement device — a slim, gumshield-like appliance worn at night — holds the lower jaw gently forward, opening the airway. The evidence base is robust, and for many snorers the difference is dramatic from the first night.

What patients say about the practice

Is it right for you?

If any of these sound familiar…

A custom device suits simple snoring and mild-to-moderate sleep apnoea in the right patients. Here’s the picture — with one important caveat below.

  • Your snoring is loud, nightly, and diplomatically “mentioned” often
  • You wake unrefreshed, or doze off in front of the TV by 9pm
  • You’ve tried sprays, strips and pillows from the chemist (the evidence for a custom MAD is in a different league)
  • CPAP was suggested or tried and you couldn’t get on with it — MADs are the recognised alternative for suitable cases
  • Important: if you stop breathing in your sleep, gasp awake, or have severe daytime sleepiness — that needs medical assessment first, and we’ll help arrange it

Why a custom device

Engineering, not medication.

A precision-fitted device opens the airway mechanically — evidence-backed, silent and portable, and often transformative from the very first nights.

  • Two people sleep better immediately

Most suitable patients (and their partners) report major improvement from the very first nights.

  • Evidence, not gimmicks

Custom mandibular advancement devices have robust clinical evidence for snoring and mild-to-moderate sleep apnoea — unlike virtually everything else sold for snoring.

  • Made for your mouth only

Precision-fitted to your teeth and adjusted to the millimetre — far more comfortable and effective than boil-and-bite devices.

  • Silent, portable, drug-free

No mask, no machine, no batteries. It fits in a pocket-sized case — the difference between snoring and silence on every trip.

The honest picture

Straight answers, before you decide.

A device treats snoring and mild-to-moderate apnoea well — but real sleep apnoea is a medical condition, and we take that seriously.

  • Apnoea comes first

Significant sleep apnoea is a medical condition with health consequences and needs proper assessment before any dental device. If your screening raises flags, we’ll refer you via your GP first.

  • A short settling-in

Expect some early jaw stiffness or extra salivation — normal, and it settles within a couple of weeks for most.

  • You need enough teeth

The device anchors to your teeth, and long-term wear can subtly shift the bite in some patients — reviews keep watch.

Making it last

Keep it working for you.

A little daily care keeps the device fresh — and a few lifestyle tweaks help it help you.

  1. Clean it every morning

    Rinse and brush; deep-clean weekly.

  2. Store it dry

In its case, away from heat.

  3. Bring it to check-ups

We monitor fit, wear and your bite.

  4. Small habits help

Weight, alcohol timing and sleep position all help the device do its job.

Good to know

Common questions

Results vary, and we assess honestly before you commit — but most suitable patients see a major reduction, frequently to silence.

Genuinely, yes, after the first few nights of adaptation. Custom-fitting is the difference; chemist devices earn their bad reputation.

You often don’t — which is exactly why our assessment includes screening, and why partners’ observations (pauses, gasps) are gold. When in doubt, medical assessment comes first.

Typically several years, depending on grinding and care. Repairs and remakes are straightforward.
