Treatments · Tooth whitening

Professional tooth whitening.

Teeth naturally darken with the years — and tea, coffee, red wine and life all leave their signature. Whitening is the simplest, kindest cosmetic treatment there is: no drilling, no needles, no changing the shape of anything. Just your own teeth, several shades brighter. Ours is the dentist-prescribed kind — custom-made trays, professional-strength gel, and results the high street legally cannot match.

What patients say about the practice

Is it right for you?

If any of these sound familiar…

Whitening is the lowest-risk way to lift your smile — and it works best when your teeth and gums are healthy. Here’s when it tends to be the right call.

  • Your teeth look duller or yellower than they used to (that’s normal ageing — and reversible)
  • A big event is coming: wedding, milestone birthday, retirement do, job interviews
  • You’ve finished Invisalign and want the full “after” photo
  • You’ve been tempted by whitening kits online or a salon offer — please read the legal bit below first
  • Your teeth and gums are healthy (we check first — it’s part of the service)

Why professional whitening

Brighter, and entirely you.

Professional whitening lifts your own natural colour — no drilling, no veneers — with custom trays that get gel where it belongs and keep it off your gums.

  • Dramatically brighter, entirely you

Whitening lifts your natural tooth colour. No veneers, no drilling — the least invasive smile upgrade in dentistry.

  • Custom trays, not boil-in-the-bag

Made from precise moulds of your teeth, so gel sits evenly against enamel and away from gums. Better results, less sensitivity.

  • You set the shade

Whiten gradually at home and stop when you love it. Subtle refresh or full Hollywood — your call.

  • Top-ups for pennies

The trays are yours for good. A refresher syringe of gel before future occasions costs a fraction of round one.

Your journey

Two visits, then you take over.

Most of the whitening happens at home, in your own time. Here’s the shape of it.

  1. / 04

    Health check

We examine your teeth and gums and confirm what’s causing the discolouration (some kinds respond better than others — we’ll be honest about yours).

  2. / 04

    Your trays

Impressions or a scan; a few days later your custom whitening trays are ready with your prescribed gel.

  3. / 04

    Whiten at home

Wear the trays overnight or for a few hours daily for 2–3 weeks, watching the shade lift day by day.

  4. / 04

    The reveal

We check your result against your starting shade (prepare to be smug) and advise on keeping it.

The honest picture

Straight answers, before you decide.

Whitening is safe and effective when it’s done properly. Here’s what “properly” means, and where the limits are.

  • Natural teeth only

Crowns, veneers and fillings won’t change colour, so if you have visible ones we’ll plan around them — sometimes replacing them after whitening for a perfect match.

  • A little sensitivity

Temporary sensitivity is common, manageable, and settles quickly. How long results last varies, not least with your tea, coffee and red-wine habits.

  • Please skip the online kits

BBC investigations have found illegal online kits containing up to 53% hydrogen peroxide — nearly nine times the legal professional maximum. Don’t gamble your enamel on them.

Making it last

Keep it bright.

A few simple habits keep the result looking fresh for far longer — and your trays make top-ups effortless.

  1. The white-shirt rule

If it would stain a white shirt, it’ll stain teeth — rinse or brush after.

  2. Use a straw

It genuinely helps with iced coffee and cola.

  3. Keep your hygiene visits

Stain removal keeps whitening looking fresh between top-ups.

  4. Top up before occasions

A refresher syringe in your own trays takes minutes.

Good to know

Common questions

Most patients lift several shades. We’ll show you a realistic target at your check — natural, luminous white rather than radiator white (unless you ask).

No. Professionally prescribed whitening used as directed is safe and extensively researched — it changes the colour of the tooth, not the structure.

Some people get a day or two of temperature twinges. Custom trays minimise it, and we can adjust your routine or gel if needed.

Because they legally can’t use anything that works (0.1% peroxide maximum) — or they’re breaking the law. Either way, not a bargain.

They remove surface stains but can’t change the tooth’s underlying shade. Fine for maintenance; no substitute for treatment.
